This year, we celebrated 75 years of glorious freedom. Our rich culture is always at the centre of everything we do. We, at Absolute Barbecues, are proud to celebrate 75 years of independence. Which is why, on this Independence Day, we joyously celebrated our rich Indian culture by offering 75+ Indian dishes.
These dishes were handpicked to give a feel of our culture, with the right spices, masalas and flavours to evoke feelings of longing and nostalgia. So, here are a few dishes that truly show you the richness of Indian cuisine and helped people experience Indian culture.
Aloo chatpate
The monsoon season coupled with cravings for some tricolour food results in aloo chatpate. Deliciously dreamy baby potatoes are baked in the oven and tossed in imli or tamarind chutney represents the perfect flavoursome dish for this season. The potatoes can also be stir-fried and are so tangy and crunchy that they perfectly complement the green chilli and tamarind, giving it a unique texture.
Chicken hot & sour
A popular soup dish where boiled, shredded chicken is cooked with chopped vegetables and simmered with spicy red chilli sauce and soy sauce. In addition to being the perfect accompaniment to the rainy season, the soup was also a wonderful independence day dish, served with fried rice, hakka noodles and any indo-chinese delicacy.
Cauliflower popcorn
This crispy and fried cauliflower served with chilli garlic sauce makes for a splendid tricolour food item. This veggie version of popcorn gets a flavour boost from aromatic spices and herbs after being coated in velvety batter, rolled in crumbly breadcrumbs, and deep fried to perfection. It’s the ideal appetiser when paired with your favourite dip.
Mini kachori & samosa
Flaky, tasty and filling, the mini kachori and samosa are a popular and beloved Indian snack. What sets them apart from the rest is their delicious vegetarian filling, spiced tomatoes, onions and peas. Served with a lip smacking green mint and tamarind chutney, these two starters are available live at our Absolute Barbecue counters. So, don’t miss out on these tricolour food items!
Veg momos
Simple, yet so elegant. These veg momos are a street favourite snack when served piping hot. Momos, or dumplings are made from flour and stuffed with cabbage, carrots, and spring onions and are typically served with a spicy and watery garlic tomato chutney. Momos can be made with a myriad of countless styles of stuffings, to suit your taste. This Independence Day dish can also be steamed or deep-fried, but we assure you that they taste incredible either way.
Malpua with rabdi
Malpua is a North Indian dish made of sugar coated pancakes and is traditionally served with rabdi, thickened sweet milk. Together, they make a dynamic play for your tastebuds. Malpua can be quite different from your regular pancakes, as they are crispy, fluffy and coated with sugar syrup or nuts. This cardamom infused independence day sweet is typical of Indian cuisine.
With this variety of dishes on Independence Day, we celebrated the diverse culture of India. Our offers included dining for Rs 5000 and receiving a voucher worth Rs 2500. Not only this, on Janmashtami, we offered vouchers for the vegetarian buffet by sharing photographs of your kids decked up as Lord Krishna.
